  1. Hey people.

I have many games that can only be played on windows 95, i tried to use the compatibility mode and still it doesn't work.
Is there any windows 95 emulator on the web
    anyone knows?
    ;)
  2. My only question is..."why?" Win 95 games? hell, just download the Atari 2600 emulator and every Atari game ROM created. Be a better waste of time!
  3. I've had trouble getting old games like Redneck Rampage to work ... I just gave up on getting them working on my main computer, I just play them on an older machine.
  4. yeah, on second thought, I dont want to be a dick here. I spent many hours on the first Red Baron. Pod was great. Then there was the original Myst...well, take that or leave it...But yeah, there were some great win 95 games. The first Tom Clancy games...
  5. You may want to edit a certain word from your first post. Cussing is against the rules, you know that.
  6. Oops, your right! I did say "Windows!!!" Sorry, on offense ment!:redbiggri
  7. I meant from your second post, first line ... never mind
  8. I have played with dosbox on linux, didnt realize it was ported for Windows too. Good program, might work for you.
  9. Dosbox huh? Might a good way to play the original Myst. Thanks.
  10. win 95 emulator

Thanx alot guys but I already have Dos Box and some of the games works fine and some works too slow like the original doom.
My question is if there are so many emulators for every old console, cant be one console that would be intended for win 95 and 98 games....

Its hard for me to find an old computer just for a few games, and I dont want to keep them for nothing, I wanna know that i finished them, geee the old montezuma's return....

  11. You could try Microsoft Virtual PC, although its not free and you will need your own version of Windows 95, but it would certianly make your games work.
  12. why not use VMWare 5.xxxx. Its just like that microcrap only not owned by a monopolistic company. And just use 98. But ull still need ur own install discs as before.
  13. ok, i have installd Microsoft Virtual PC and now i dont know how to operate it, i have the original windows 95 disc and i created an operating sys named "old games computer" it asks me all the time to put a floppy disc inside, but i want to install this from the cd....
does anyone know how to do this
  14. I've never used Microsoft Virtual PC before, but I do know that Windows 95 won't boot from a CD, it needs to boot from a floppy first then you can install it from there. If you need a boot disk, try http://www.bootdisk.com
  15. I used MSVPC ages ago, so my instructions are gonna be pretty vague.

Click File -->Open disk (or it might be mount disk) -->Then choose the option to use a physical drive.

But as Random says, Win95 doesn't boot from disk, get a bootable floppy disk, and follow the [vague] method above, but choose the floppy disk option.
  16. Another myst fan... yay.... you do realize that they made 2 new versions, right? Myst 3D and Real Myst? Real Myst kicks *beep*
  17. I ahve alot of fav win95/98 3D games XP dose not paly becuse thier 3D so its to the point where XP for everyday use and I'll have to build a comp for win98 to paly games on ><
  18. Does anybody dual-boot anymore? Thats how I keep playing Duke Nukem 3D and DOOM and the like. Tried DOSBox with some success.
You said its hard to find an older machine. Look at the thrift and charity shops. I found many good machines for rock-bottom $!
Find a pawn shopand develope a good relationship with them. I've got one that will call me whenever they get a comp in and will let me check it out. I bought one recently from them for a $100.00, give it a good clean up, swapped the CD-ROM for a DVD burner and gave it a fresh software load and sold it for $300.00.

  19. Yup darkchyld is right u should use dual/multi-boot. First install win95/98. And the win xp. That way u can play all games u want....
  20. I have bought so many computers at garage sales and flea markets I lost count. You usually pay $10 to $50 and take what you get. Some work, some dont, but they all have good parts.
  21. There may be optimizations you can't use in your virtual box. In my humble experiance I found that VT-x/AMD-V must NOT be enabled
I think PAE/NX also can not be. Be sure to have just 1 processor, 128 ram or less, PIIX3....

  22. that is with Oracle's Vm VirtualBox
