  1. im just wondering why Alienware is so famous.
have anyone ever used it before?
isn't it just a ripoff!? Ok, here's what i saw...

Spec of Aurora Performance ------------------------Price at Newegg.com
    Athlon 64 3200+ -----------------------------------$270.00
    512MB DDR SDRAM at 400MHz - 2 x 256MB ----------$103.00
    ATI RADEON 9600 XT 128MB ----------------------$173.00
    80GB Seagate Barracuda 7,200 RPM -----------------$76.00
    Lite-On 16x DVD-ROM-------------------------------$27.00
    3.5" 1.44 MB Floppy Disk Drive-----------------------$9.99
    Audigy 2 High Definition 6.1 Surround ----------------$72.00
    Gigabit Ethernet Adapter ----------------------------$17.99
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition --------------$91.00

Total Cost: Aurora Performance $1,643.00 ----------$840+Wireless Keyboard & Optic Mouse + Case

reason why i dont have the price of their Mouse+Keyboard and Case is because they're painted and they aren't sold in newegg. but look at the price. their difference is obvious. their difference is $803 with keyboard+mouse and Case not included, but seriously, what kind of case and keyboards can cost 803!? even if they're both high-end super nice ones, they won't be 300. let's say you add $300 to the total price form newegg for their designed case and mouse. their total cost will be 1340 and the difference are $503.
Why are they so expensive!? what's so good about Alienware PC's?
  2. Alienware is known for tailering their computers to gamers. Having Alienware gives lazy gamers something to brag about. Real gamers have custom built computers which, as you have noticed, are much less expensive and can be much more powerful.
  3. ahh, so their's nothing special about them but for noobs to showoff their computer to other. or for rich person who really like their design. I dont see their design as atractive though... :blah2:
  4. Sometimes it's all about brand loyalty mate.
  5. Alienware are known for tailor suiting their PC's to games, theyr too expensive though but not everybody knows exactly how to build a great PC specifically for gaming so they get business.
  6. When I worked for Alienware, there was a pretty good reason to buy an Alienware PC. If you wanted tech support for all brand-named parts, and if you wanted your PC to be tweaked hardware AND software (and even overclocked if you want), and if you didn't know how to build a PC, you could buy an Alienware. The Alienware setups used to be much cheaper than they are now -- the extra paint jobs you got, the tech support, the labor for tweaking, it was all only a 500 dollar increasement over building the same PC yourself.

I always, when offered discount parts, took the parts, and chose to build the PC myself. This is because it IS better to build your own PC if you have the time and knowledge to do so.

However, now that they are marketing towards the mainstream and not towards their original audience, they have lost it all. They are overcharging for parts you could easily buy for cheaper, they are selling the most horrific and unefficient cases EVER, and they have lost their high-end performance.

There's nothing to an Alienware anymore.
  7. they give people that would be left behind in the game world some thing to buy
they are no better than gateway or dell(waist of money)

but the people that buy it dont realize that a true gamer will tweek and tweek and upgrade even o/c
after puting out that much $$$$ an upgrade would be harder (for normal peeps)
they have gone main stream and have become whores
and have decided to sell to dumb a** people to make a profit
be sides if you build it your self YOU REALY KNOW WHATS GOING ON IN THIER
(do you realy need that stupid case and water cooled system hmmm......)
