Tomb Raider Anniversary - License date, crash or freeze

Been playing with TRA when the famous "License date has expired" thing appeared. Changing the computer time worked only for 2 days. Not wanting to play with the original CD, I started to hunt for another crack.

I've found another one (by Poseden, I think), but this one either crash when I get the dual pistols or freezes when I complete a level (says "Press enter to continue", but hitting enter only makes "Click!" noises). Tried the mini-image, the TRALoader, the savegame factory, they all have similar problems.

So, I'm playing with the original CD for the moment (I hate doing that), but anyone got that same problem with TRA?

There is no fully working crack out yet, currently there are two, the Time Trial one and the other which crashes to desktop when you pick up certian items, I dunno how well the mini-image works so it looks like we've gotta keep on using our originals.

What I hate the most is the noise by drive makes. It's 5 years old, but still works and I wasn't raised on trashing things that works, so I'm sort of stuck with it It's very loud the first 5 minutes, then it stops. I can live with that.

What I find strange about Hatred's release is that it asks to insert a memory card (PS2) when you try to resume the game. I wonder if ending a level doesn't force the game to try to read a non-existent memory card before the question "Do you wish to save your current progress?" and freezes the system that's looking for the card. If that freezing part wouldn't be there, the problem would be solved.

As for the mini-image by Poseden, I can't even open the virtual drive when the image is loaded in DT 4.09, Yasu'ed or not. If I can't, my original TRA.exe probably can't either.

A workaround

I have found a workaround. It's a bit complicated, but it does the job.

I can now safely put the original CD back in the box and relax. No more bloody drive noise

Attached is the workaround with a "How it works" text file. Since it is not allowed to attach cracks, you will need to find Hatred's crack yourself to complete this package.

Argh! Yeah it is complicated but I can confirm that it does work.

I downloaded your Tomb Raider Anniversary Workaround.rar. It workes great. The only problem it is that I can not pick anything. I am talking about Health or guns but KEYS wich are really nedded in the game. What can I do

how to run the r55 version??

i really didn't know abt the r55 version, got it from a freind now am stuck with the stupid last levels....i only needed a few days...the problem i changing dates/deleting savegame files don't work..
so...how do i run it???

well i also cant access the laras diary in the items menu.i mean it shows the diary but whenever i press enter there is no reaction.

and wont the (playstation2) loading problem can be solved completely.

i mean isnt there any patches to fix these bugs.

It's a problem with the cracking process, there is still no sign of a new crack yet.

How can the game detect that the system date is not correct? (before sending anything to a internet server...)??

I've tried to redirect the request but it uses https... then without the certificate of the server i can not send a valid response :-S

I think it goes off the date the game was installed.

there is solution for the 'license expired' problem.though the solution is not permanent you have to repeat it after few days.

Now go to C:\Documents and Settings\****\Application Data

Where C: is the Root Directory (where WINDOWS is installed) and **** is your username.

Note: You will have to enable show hidden files and folders (tools/folder options/view/show hidden files and folders) to see the Application Data folder.

In the Application Data folder find and right click the SecuROM folder and select Unlocker,select delete in the drop down menu and press ok.

Next run TrashReg,select File and Find Keys with NULL embedded names and press ok.
Right click and delete the entry caution! never delete or change any key.
(If you cannot find the entry, you might need to
select Find keys with NULL-embedded names from the file menu of the application and make sure all options are selected)

Now go to start/run and type regedit.
Select Edit and Find and type SecuROM.
In the list of entries on the left you will see SecuROM,right click and delete it.

Where do you see this? In the appdata folder right click the SecuROM folder and select Unlocker,select delete in the drop down menu and press ok.

I see the securom folder but I don't see the select unlocker thingy when i right-click it

When i try to delete it says error can not delete

Oh i got it working now, thanks Johnny! Turns out all i was missing was those two small programs

So for ppl who want to fix the Tra "License Expired" msg.... find and install Unlocker and trashreg(Registry Trash Keys finder) FIRST!!! Then follow the instructions"Now go to C:\Documents and Settings\****\Application Data........

Congratulations "johnny cage" the game it really works and it is not that difficult to manage.
Anyone who wants to delete the registrations to do exactly as johnny cage wrote but first need to download from the net that 2 programs: "Unlocker" and "TrashReg"
All are for free.

Hello, i need help about this "license expired" problem cause those two programs, TrashReg and Unlocker doesn't seem to work under windows xp x64 pro. I used Gipo Move on Boot to delete the Securom folder and it seemed to work, but now that i have to delete the NULL registry key, trashreg doesn't start at all in my os using the .exe.

I have the same problem and just wanna ask some questions over this. I have vista 32 bit installed...i find the SecuRom folder ...then i od right click but there is no unlocker, only a choice that says somethin like public view...anyway do i have to delete the securom folder???
Then waht is trashreg??a program that i have to download and install???

This game sucks..i am at 50% and cant continue.....

i downloaded trashreg...crashes everytime i try to open it....#@v#!!! Any other help????

My os is windows 7 home premium 64-bit. I did installed the Unlocker and TrashReg. I can delete SecuRom folder in Application Data folder using Unlocker. But i can't delete the SecuRom folder in the "regedit" . Is Unlocker can't delete files or folders in "regedit" ? If can, how to do it with Unlocker? Thanks for reply.

ps : In Windows 7, when right click the SecuRom folder, i can't see the Unlocker even i'd installed the program. I just deleted it manually.
