I have been on the chat often the last week and usually it is only me and the channel server. What is the purpose with a chat channel when there are nobody there except yourself?
Zeanox: I am usually there, but only during the evenings (U.S. Eastern Time), and usually all weekend. I honestly don't know why people don't spend more time in there. When we first started it, it was pretty popular... P.S. If you don't see me under the name "Copy Lord", I use the names "Revelation", and "MRC" as well.
I take it this is a dead room now then, as there is no one in the room, there is no ChanServ in there holding the room open and when I joined I got made op so I must be creating a new room. Can someone give me a status update? If you are looking for a decent IRC server I can suggest one that comes with ChanServ for keeping it open, memoserv, nickserv, etc and best of all, it's free. It's the same server that PC Village people use. I'm not spamming or advertising here, just seeing if anyones interested.... PM/Mail me if ya want details
Hmmm yes looks like the ChanServ has left the room :redconfw I haven't been in MG chat for months, I'm there now I'm sure CL can fix it.
your you on the gamesurge server it has been changed since this was thread open. download and replace our old server file from here (this assumes you use mIRC) http://www.mirc.co.uk/servers.ini
plank is correct. I'm sorry I forgot to do this sooner. I have updated the main post in this thread with the proper changes. I am personally on every night, and on the weekends.
hi CL, i can't even get through the site. is the site under construction or something? tried a couple of times but i always get "page cannot be displayed"--error message
go to here instead nealander http://members.westnet.com.au/maslinc/chat/chat_megagames.html i set this up in no time so use this until one is set at the forums
I'm in there almost every night. The problem is, when I'm using the laptop, it's a wireless connection, and IRC disconnects every so often.
A tip to all people using mIRC, under Options there is a function called Perform, click on that you get a menu. 1) Click Add and scroll through the list until you find Gamesurge and click. 2) If you have a registored account with gamesurge type /idnetify <username> <password>. If you want to registor type /AuthServ REGISTER <account> <password> <email@address> (caps no caps it dose not matter) 3) Then press entre and type /join #megagames as above. 4) Make sure the little check box at the top of the menu is check so that every time you start mIRC it dose in automaticly. 5) You must click OK and OK or mIRC for some reason dose not hold the changes. 6) (This step is optinal) If you do not want your IP on public display also add this command, /mode $me +x and Gamesurge will assign you a hidden host. The host will be <nick>@<account/nick>.users.Gamesurge. I recomend putting this into your all networks of your proform list so it dose it far all networks. Now every time you start mIRC it auto join #megagames. I don't know why the people with cable and ADSL don't put mIRC in there startup for windows, so evertime you start up mIRC opens and joins all the channels you want, but thath is just me. When a get home a will take some screen shot for the newbies
I'd go on more often if it stayed busy, but if it's never in use, I see no point in haveing an extra programming running.
The mIRC client is free, just click the "continue" button once it's done flashing and you're all set.
I've been sitting on the IRC channel for a few hours. No-one comes online... And one can only amuse oneself for so long typing: "/me pokes self"
I joined the IRC channel today with an unregistered nick to find myself opped. That means the channel has been unregistered. Did we move or did we just plain stop using IRC?
The channel has indeed been unregistered, due to inactivity. I usually idle in there a few times daily, but since I was on vacation & had limited internet access, I was unable to do so.
hey lowest, have you tried downloading Trillian Basic? I've had great success with both that and IceChat7 (check download dot com). Trillian Basic is an instant messaging program that lets you be on MSN, YIM, AIM, IRC, etc. simultaneously. What kind of firewall are you behind? Does it actually go onto your hard drive and delete the program, or does it stop it from downloading, or does it stop it from accessing the internet? Or something else entirely?
