Since its been so quiet here lately I just wanted to start another thread where everyone can discuss what game you think is the best game ever. I think FF7 is the best game ever because of the gameplay and story. The graphic sucks but hey, its a really old game, I got a thing for old games I think :sarcastic I would give FF7: 10/10 story 9/10 gameplay 2/10 graphics 10/10 soundtrack
But theres so many good games around Deus Ex, Max Payne 2, Kotor...all good games and I think best of their respective genres. Never was a big fan of FF7 really, I allways prefered FF8
For me, Metal Gear Solid is the best. 10/10 - Story 9/10 - Gameplay 4/10 - Graphics (by today's standards) 9/10 - Graphics (at the time) 8/10 - Soundtrack
It's a bit difficult to choose but If I had to select the ones I liked the most I guess could be: Prince of Persia for DOS The Sierra adventure ones from the 90's
Fallout for PC, every game in the series (1, 2, tactics)! Loved the depth of plot, the settings and the openendedness of the games. I'm hoping for a decent Fallout 3, but we'll see if it makes the category of "Best Game of All Time" in my opinion. I know The Brotherhood of steel for PS2 didn't...
Minesweeper. Can't remember when was the last time I played that game the most. I guess on Win 3.1 or Win 95 days can't remember anymore then lost interest on it. Never liked much. But used to play the 3d Pinball that come from Win 95 to Win XP. Man this one was made by Maxis the same of the Sims 2 before turned on EA property Also Win 3.0 had one called I guess Reversi that was. Never come on any later Win version anymore but have lots of clones
I dont think Fallout 3 will turn out to be a bad game. Just not what fans are wanting and in many cases demanding from Bethesda.

Best Game of All Time??? Hard to choose.... For me still it is Command and Conquer 95.... Sublime gameplay, revolutionairy real time movies (that was in 1995!!), fascinating plotline, this game started a cult fanbase that still lasts till today... (Brotherhood of Nod, thats my side ) After that... Half life 1 & 2, genial games, tough i prefer the story of HL 1 and the smooth touch of HL2.... Then its Vampires: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, a brilliant game, unique in all perspectives, no games nowaday offer the dark and moody gothic atmosphere, the different vampireclans and abilities (clan malkavian is genius, giving a real sweet insight in a schitzophrenic world), unique rpg/fps/slasher action, amazing plotline, and great R rated graphics, a jewel on its own... too bad it was released buggy but the unofficial patches that have been going on the last 4 years (at version 5.5 atm) have polished it up real nice... I recommend this game to any1 who wants to sink back into his or her darker side.... even for today, get the game (even on steam), download the updates and enjoy... nothing better... Then well, Deus Ex, nothing needs to be said, a perfect game... i liked IW's feeling and architecture pretty much, altough it was obviously console ported.... and as last... Prince of Persia, i love PoP 3d, and the sands of time trilogy.... Tough C&C and Vampires stand out on top... =)
I found the combat in Vampire Bloodlines realy unsatifying. Still an absolute triumph of a game so long as the unnoficial patches are applied but the combat always felt very floaty to me and the guns felt waay to underpowered. Granted guns dont do much damage to vamps but against humans they should take less than 5 shots to kill.
My best games are Need for Speed Underground 1,2 Need for speed Most Wanted and Carbon,Unreals 1 and 2,Unreal Tournaments from 1999 to 3,Mortal Kombat 1 to 4 and many more that I cant remember.
I don't have a "best game of all time" per-se, I deem several games my favourites, but one that slightly stands out above the rest is Grim Fandango. It was pretty much the last decent graphic adventure game LucasArts did before the genre seemed to dissapear, graphically by today's standards it looks pretty awful with its pre-rendered backgrounds (that are very pretty) and low polygon models (weren't that bad for the time), but everything else in the game makes up for that so much. The story is 10/10, it keeps you gripped from the very moment you start playing the game till the very moment you finish it. I'd give the gameplay a 8/10 purely becuase it can very very linear at times and its not always completely obvious where you have to go or what you need to do next (although it is always part of the fun trying to figure it out). It doesn't have a propper soundtrack in the tradional sense, but the music is excellently chosen dependent on where you are and what your doing, such as a moment of suspense or sabotaging something, trying not to give the game away. If your a fan of adventure games, you can't die without playing this game.

(its just creepy) HL2 and all eps Call of Chutulu (if you wanna know how it is to be insane) Age of Empires2 CNC series, from generals to kane Counter strike 1.6 Diablo2 Crysis Flatout2 WC3 Frozen throne Gears of War GTA SA Halo(1) WoW Max Payne 1-2 NFS series Portal Team Fortress 2 Uplink And I could go on forever. This is just a few of my fav games, but FF7 is a nodge over them all. PS: almost forgot to mention the GREAT!! game Dograzor introdused me to, Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines, its a genious masterpiece!!

OMFG!! Dude i thought i was only one. Everybody allways mock FF8 and praises FF7. I totally agree for my opinion FF8 is best FF and i never liked FF7 very much. About best game ever.... hmm very very very hard to tell...
I prefer FF8 to FF7 too, probably because I played 8 first before I played 7. Even so both are awesome games.
For me the best games change from time to time as it should I think newer games should be better then older ones although I do say that there are a lot of classic games out there that deserved to be played or at least remember. FF7 use to be my favorite for a while, but there are so many good games now that I can't really say that anymore. Currently games on my list are. 1. Call of Duty 4 2. Metal Gear Solid 4 3. Gears of War 2 I'm sure that in a year or so it will be different.
I was also a big fan of FF 8. Never particularly cared for 7. As far as the FF series goes I would have to say that FF 3, 8, and 10 were my favorites. Now as far as all time favorites? They're not in any particular order. Skies of Arcadia Final Fantasy 8 Banjo Kazooie (used to love playing that when I was a kid). Don't laugh. Crysis UT3 COD4 Starcraft (can't wait for the second one).
Dune 1 Final Fantasy 8(was about time to see something looking more like teenagers than some kid looking teenagers) Command and Conquer (the original, as Kane character was bloody magnificent portrayed by the people from Westwood0 Dungeon Keeper Black Isle games NFS 1-5 Crimsoon Skies Su27 series Troika games HOMM 1-3 and Might and Magic 6-8 Ultima series Wizardry series Sierra and Lucas adventure series and most of their other adventure line-up Theme Park and Theme Hospital 5 Star General series(Panzer general 1-2, Allied General, Fantasy General and so on, excluding the fiasco named Star General) Warlords God, I could go on and on. P.S: forgot to add the Krondor series, Kyrandia, Lands Of Lore, Blade Runner, Dune 2, Dune 2000 and Emperor: Battle for Dune, but like I said this can go on and on, as up to 2k there were a lot of good games on the market. Last two years, were so poor in quality games that I've managed to save some good money. Never thought how much I was spending on games until now

I've played my first Final Fantasy on NES, back in the '80's. Other favorite series from that time were: Phantasy Star Shinning(remember Shinning in the Darkness followed by the Shinning Force 1-3?) Also I've loved Buck Rogers(the console version was better in all areas). Abe Pandemonium Shenmue Ikaruga I thought to add some console series and games, as there is nowhere written that the thread it's restricted to PC.
There are so many games I loved, for the best one is hard to chose. I would say Half -life for me, but there are so much others. Like: - Command and Conquer series(under Westwood) - Doom series - Bioshock - Fallout series - Warcraft series - Starcraft - Black&White 1 And list could go on and on...

Best game for me is Castlevania, FF8 and Diablo but when it becomes to online games I love Darkeden (its like diablo 2)but it died long ago (got some information that DE will be revive again by some company, idk if its true) If its true then maybe i shall give it a try again, who knows maybe the classy old time can now compete with new games H@H@H@
