Hey guys. I’ve got a problem with one of my hard drives. It is a Samsung SP2514N 250Gb and is connected using a PATA cable (my main HDD is through SATA) and it has a DVD burner on the end of the same cable. I have set it up like this because my Mobo only has one PATA cable socket. I recently added this drive because my 500gb SATA HDD was full. This new problem happens when my computer goes into standby mode. when I resume I keep getting a ‘unable to save E:/(certain file on hard drive)’ error that appears in the tray every so often. When I try to directly access files on the hard drive, only some of them are showing to be there, and when I try to go into some folders it gives me an error saying “this disk is not formatted. Do you want t format it now”. Now this is not the end of the world for me because when I restart my computer it works fine again, up until it goes into stand by mode. Then I get the same problem again. As you can imagen this is very anoying because i would still like to use standby. Note: - this HDD worked perfectly back in my old comp as the Primary Drive -I am using XP Any thoughts on a fix or why its happening would be much appreciated.
You can try right clicking your desktop click settings and click on screensaver then check if the monitor and hard hard is ok. If the hard drive has anything other than never then that might be your problem and with your monitor you can choose never if you want to be safe.
Thanks, but the problems not there. and it works fine after the monitor goes to standby. If no ones got any ideas than i'll stick with what ive been doing over the last couple of weeks, that is using a shutdown timer for when i go to bed with music.
