I want to buy 1TB hdd. But I heard it has some problems and won't last long! Though it might have warranty upto 3/5 yrs but still if replaced there would surely be data loss. I have heard some complaints about 1TB hdds. check this out http://www.techenclave.com/priceguide/prices.php?category=6 WD 1TB EACS Green Power I am thinking about this(10th in above list). You could always go with the 1TB G-RAID. Comes prebuilt with RAID 0 so if one drive crashes you have a duplicate. http://www.g-technology.com/Products/g-raid2.cfm
Also, I have not seen any evidence to show that 1TB HDs having a higher failure rate. I've often used drives this size, for home, and work, and they have worked fine for me. As far as brands go, I've had very good luck with both Western Digital and Seagate. Generally, the drives I've seen fail most often (at work, for clients) are Hitachi and Maxtor (Yes, I'm aware they were absorbed by Seagate, I'm referring to the older Maxtor drives) but this is personal opinion really.
