Play GBA titles on the tv!
Nintendo keeps hitting us with the great peripherals. First the wave bird then the e-reader and now the gba player. This device will allow you to play gba and gbc titles on your television through a link and boot-up disc with game cube. No more squinting - this brings your favorite handheld into the big time. Nintendo hasn't announced a price, but expects the unit to sell for under $50 when it hits the shelves before this summer. The company already expects a few games to be incompatible with this unit, but it shouldn't be a widespread problem. The gba player will also support multiplayer through a link cable!

For being the Console god that you are I'm surprised that you missed Jagpanzer's thread. Take a look at it. But yes, I'm totally psyched about it.

well playing it on the tv pretty much takes away the point of it being a hand held game.... if i wanted it to be big screen.... i might as well emulate the game

Yes, but it would always be nice to play Wario Land 4 on your TV , that doesn't take away the fact that you can still also play it on the handheld GBA.

I dont see any need of a converter to the TV - the entire point of one of those things is to play games on the go - people dont sit in their rooms and act like loosers - squinting at a 6 inch screen playing a 32bit game LOL - well, maybe some people do, but that is why I have a laptop - I first of all don't need a GBA, but my bro has one - he likes it - Anyways, I don't see the point, it seems to take away from the whole aspect of the GBA
And wouldn't such a device bring the quality of the picture down???

I wonder if Aman "Sees the point". Anyways, there are games for the GBA that aren't for any other system. Metroid Fusion, yeah yeah Metroid Prime, but those are 2 comepletely different games. Breath of fire 1 and 2, so many great games on the GBA that would look so much better on a big screen. And who has a 6 inch screen? Deadlus, you are right on

wouldn't the rez on the tv suck? i mean it looks ok cause the screen is so small but when you put so few pixels over like 20+ inches isn't it kinda blocky?

I understand your point of view, but it's just the funny thing about the cube...
I think it would be cool to play your favorite GBA games on a big screen And certainly if you get the sound from the dolby surround blasters
I'm going to buy this thing for sure!

If only the cube supported DSS 5.1.
It's limited to DTS, which is better than the PS2's offering which is mere stereo-how retro!
At it's heart the GBA is a 32 bit system.
Any 32 bit system is more than deserving of a big screen.
If I could sit through hours of 8 bit Tank and Pong, the GBA games will be a treat.

You're right Jag. I played the 8-bit Sonic games for hours.
Good old classics...

Got my black SP today!
Suh-weet.
It fits/plays better than you'd think, the screen is very well lit.
It even has a dimmer button.
AC charger for the Li-ion battery is uncluded.
Bravo nintendo.
