Well, Kane is back and now that's what I call a nice evil guy. I like the way they portrayed Kane in the first C&C: intelligent, charismatic, manipulative, a media darling. Also the original RA added the political ability and the will to survive as character traits for our bad guy. And then they added Tiberian Sun and Renegade which diminished Kane at the thug status. Both titles appeared after EA bought Westwood and since then the series are getting worser and worser. Hopefully this will change. Haven't the time to look at it yet, but the trailers are impressive while the Eurogamer.net review says it's a good, old fashioned RTS with lots and lots and fun. Coming from the reviewers from Eurogamer, which are very harsh on their reviews, that's a compliment. The fact that they gave it a 8/10 it says a lot(that's their equivalent for 9.5/10 grade or 4.5/5 stars on gamespy or gamespot).

Thanks for the link wolf. I can't wait until I get C&C3. Only a couple days to go until release day! :artysmil

Dog, you should try out the demo (if you haven't already). Give yourself a taste of the game, and the realtime cutscenes.

The game is fun, simple and addictive. Strange enough, the actors like Michael Ironside seems forced in their acting, while the actor who plays Kane(yes, it's the same one since game one, Joe Kucan) seems entirely fit into the role. The big names obviously don't treat the cutscenes seriously and sadly I've seen better acting in RA2. But hey, at least Joe it's doing great on our PC screens. Other big names: Tricia Hellfer(Battlestar Galactica), Grace Park(Battlestar Galactica), Billy Dee Williams(Lando Calrissian in SW, anyone? ), Josh Holloway(Sawyer in Lost), Jennifer Morrison(House MD)
Yet, the unknown actors are taking their roles more seriously, than the known ones, the exception being Tricia Hellfer..

and yes the cutscenes are good... and gameplay is good too.... but i hope the storyline and the athmosphere will be good... i couldn't judge from the demo alone...

Nah, but we've got used to see the files out in the open. There are a few games that hide certain files in subfolders and C&C3 is one of them.
Playing the game passionately, mindless, brainless fun.

In the C&C3 install folder is a subfolder called RetailExe. In that subfolder goes the crack.

Frankly, already got a bitter taste that my money was wasted on this game. Never played any C&C title before, used to read good reviews. Been on a dry spell for games the last several monts, so decided to give this one a go.

Too repetative and simplistic, story goes short in many aspects. Only joy was to watch the blue-eyed brunette giving out instructions :-)

MechCommander 1 and 2 are still my top titles when it comes to RTS...

Company of Heroes, the original Blitzkrieg, Warhammer 40k: Dark Crusade and the good, old Warzone 2100 are some of my favorite RTS titles.
I prefer the titles which are limiting your resources, because they do present a challenge.
C&C3 differs from the original only by graphics. End of story. The original had a great story, gone bad in the C&C2 and even worse in C&C3. The first Red Alert continued the story from C&C, while the later titles lost any connection with the initial storyline.
C&C3 is fun, but doesn't go any further. Too much accent on the nice ladies and no accent at all for true storytelling. And what's with the guy from NOD and his "castrate" thingie.

I am a bit confused, since my perception is that if Tiberium Wars is the 3rd game from the series, Tiberian Sun and Firestorm should respectivelly be the 1st and the 2nd. Other people however refer to some other titles from the Command and Conquer as being 1st and 2nd. So what is the truth?

C&C2 Firestorm is an addon for C&C2 Tiberian Sun. The first C&C is just plain C&C.
