Where did my Half-Life 2 chapter titles go?

I finally got my game to work without Steam, after their last update totally fu---- it up, taking the stuttering issue to new heights. I used a tutorial that I found here on MG forums and it's worked beautifully for the most part, but after playing for a little while I realized I'm not seeing the chapter titles anymore. I'm not really that bothered by this, I just want to make sure this isn't going to translate into a bigger problem later...

Any other 'Steamless' HL2 users have this issue?

When I got HL2 to run without steam, I had major problems with the game later on, it got to the point where I had to use the level skip cheat just to get to the next level, so I literally missed out on half the story of the game! So in the end I was forced to actaully buy the game, and I didn't regret it!

Well I did buy the game, the US 5-cd version, and the steam updates (which take forever to begin with, and that's ONLY if the steam servers aren't busy which they are much of the time) have made the game choppier and the sound stutter has gotten worse and worse.

I'm just about done with the airboat part of the game, and the Black Mesa interlude (during which a lot of 'Steamless' HL2 users have had crashes) has gone without a hitch, so so far the only weirdness I've experienced is the absence of chapter titles.

But given the improved performance, game running smooth as silk with EVERYTHING maxed, my 'Steamless' version has been totally worth the time it took to figure it out. So far, at least...
