i have a question about the install notes in the info file it comes with.
"5) Block internet connection from quake4.exe with your firewall"

Why would i have to do, or want to do that? Multiplayer is why i bought the game.

Is that only if i use the provided(which im not) serial or what?

Search for:

(Windows XP: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) and add in "127.0.0.1 q4master.idsoftware.com" (open it with wordpad)

This should do the trick

I've only just started it but it seems to be a cracker!

I've yet to find a legal copy of any game that comes with an info file never mind one which tells you how to enter dodgy CD key numbers.
Buy the game (I mean a legal version) and read the rules.

I was talking about the no cd crack.
After all, whats this thread title called?(Q4 CRACK)And the board(NO CD Fix and Patch?

In that case don't use the crack.
No CD cracks remove stuff from the .exe file so if you try to log on in multi player your .exe file will not be recognised and you'll be kicked off the server.
If you want to try make sure you have backed up your original .exe before applying the crack then if it doesn't work you can put it all back again.

But for the record If I am not wrong Quake 4 doesn't any no cd crack anymore. Was removed in the update patches as the same of the previous Quake games
