Same IDE cable? what the...

i just clean installed windows xp home edition to my computer. i installed the latest version of nero and it wont let me copy a cd "on the fly"

it gives me an error saying the both my source drive and write drive are connected to the same ide cable. it informs me that this only allows small amounts of read and write data to be tranmitted through the same cable.....the result, alot of buffer underrun errors.

this never happened in win98 and win2k......any ideas? i did fix this problem last time i was on xp but i forgot how i dod it. i thought i got the update from the windows site in relation to IDE but it hasnt solved the problem

(i know i can create images and then burn them but i really wanna fix this problem)

any ideas??????

Regards..

Nero is trying to help you by doing this, I don't know how to 'fix' your problem but i would suggest that you follow its advice by either using seperate cables or by burning via the H/D, This is the best way to get nice, clean burns.

have your reader as master and ur writer as slave,(ide 2) then have ur hdd on ide 1, ive been burning like this from day one and with my combo of liteon dvd reader + writer i have not had one single coaster, the liteon writer likes by default to be slave.

Yeah I've been good too. I had to leave for a while as well. Lots has change now, but the purpose of the board and being here is the same right.

Glad to see you're still breathing and about dude.

in that case reinstall the other o/s or get rid of xp home and get the pro vers, but i would first make sure of the jumper settings on the cdrom and writer.
