Enter The Matrix, Stupid Filename Problem

hi there. i recently got Enter The Matrix for my xbox and i decided to back it up onto my hard drive (cause i don't like carting my discs around to my mates house). so heres the problem, there are several files in the Effects subdirectories which just will not copy onto the hard drive, i assume this is due to their names or something

Enter The Matrix/Effects/Beat_7_Hovercraft/ptexture_B7_HC_01_N_HOVERCRAFT_TUNNEL_F.txt

is a good example of what i'm talking about. i was wondering if anyone knew why they wouldn't copy over. am i right, are the names too long or something? are these files even needed, they just contain what appears to be a compile log for some files.

thanks in advance to those who reply,

Vince.

i dont see how that's possible. It's on a windows file system, the name should be fine. Maybe they are corupt or being used? If you are copying from the CD to the hard drive, try copying the CD to a PC's hard drive and then transfering to the Xbox's hard drive.

Just a suggestion.

dont do anything to it.
if you cant copy it over using pxhddloader or dvd2xbox (on my site) just ftp them from the xboxs d:\ drive to whatever partition you want to install it on (e or f or g). ie make a folder caled games on your f and then make a folder in there called etm or in HDDLoader folder on f make a folder in there called etm and then ftp the d drive files to your pc and then too the file i just said

to all, thanks for the suggestions.

Pie: it's the name which is the problem, not the files contents.

Aman: i tried the ftp method too, i just get an error 'requested operation not performed' message from flashfxp. the xbox file system is custom, it's called FATx and only supports (from what i gather) names less than 42 or 48 chars long (i forget which) and the can't have odd chars in the name like commas or plus signs etc.

nick: that doesn't work either, boxplorer reports 'insufficient disc space left for the file' which is funny, the file = a few kb, free hd = 60Gb...

i have since found a patch for the game but as yet i haven't tried it. i can only assume it shortens the names for the files and relinks them in the xbe, i'll have a looky later.

thanks to everyone again.

Vince.
