How true is it that the XBox can be made into a multi-purpose machine ?

Obviously I know the XBOX can be a multi-purpose machine straight out of the box, a CD player, DVD player, games machine etc....

But my question is, when you mod the XBOX how much more can it do ? I've read a few sites about different things the machine can do, but I'm unsure if these are still "in theory" form or have actually become fact.

So can anyone tell me what is now possible with a Modded XBOX.
Sorry for so many questions. Some may sound a bit dumb, but I'm trying to determine what is fact and what isn't.

1) Can the XBOX be used as a server ?
2) Can the XBOX be used as a cheap PC... running a PC operating System ? I have read something about Win 98 and linux
3) Can the XBOX emulate most classic arcade and consoles now ?
4) Can the XBOX run all "homebrew" software ?
5) Can you have 2 hard drives installed into the XBOX and switch between them, either by hardware switch or software switching ?
6) After modding, will the XBOX run all future foreign region games without any need to re-flashing the bios ?
7) Why do some chips offer multi-bios's...Why not use just one ?
8) Is there any advantage of one Mod chip over another (disregarding installation of it).
9) Is there any other advantages of having the Mod chip fitted ?

I ask all this as I thinking of getting an Xbox modded, but I don't know if I should get a second one, so I could link it up for multi-player with my other XBOX, and use it as a development and emulation machine, or just get my old XBOX machine modded so I can finally play Tony Hawks 2X on my Pal machine.

A:yes win 98 and linux, i have linux.

A:yes, nes, snes, sega, sega genesis, ps1, and more.

A:yes but it's good to update ur bios once in a while

A:BS i just use 1, i have a switch to turn off the chip,

A: yes, some mod chips cant be upgrade it (flash) some can flash the bios by itself some not n in to order to flash the bios u'll need a programmer. etc.
9) Is there any other advantages of having the Mod chip fitted ?

This is true, it can be used as a server, and many people stick Linux on the box, and use it for this very reason. (server)

I heard Linux and Microsoft could be running into a lawsuit.. according to sources Linux wrote a letter to the EU asking them to talk to Microsoft and tell them to stop Microsoft preventing Linux doing their work...

Kinda sounds crazy if you ask me but the console world is pretty much crazy in this day and age so my guess is as good as anybody elses.. Anyway if they win the support then Linux will be able to take the X-box to new levels... damn if this is true im wondering why theyr even fighting Linux on this they could make console sales take off!
