Question Problems with playing AVI files in windows 98, can anyone help ??

I did some AVI short movies with my digital Camera (30 secs or less in length) and they worked fine on my WIN XP system. But when I try to play the movies on my friends Win 98 system it gives error messages of the different players I've used... media player 9 being one of them, it comes up with an error message, though its shows how long the movie is in seconds, and even shows the play bar move, but still no picture.

Does win 98 have problems playing AVI files ?
Is there different types of Avi files ?

Are there any really good players I should get to get these avi files to work ?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm a little confused as I thought AVI was such a standard format, that it would be an easy task to get them to run on any system.

Send a message via MSN to Icebane
Download a DivX player... Or update the Codec of the Media Player on the WIn 98 machine

As Icebane, I also really recommend DivX player to play avi's.
You can get a free version of divX at www.divx.com

would have to agree wif spy and icebane....... divx would be one of the best to use....... if that still doesn't work.... tryin' installing a dvd proggy........ like powerdvd or something and see if that helps at all........ i found that they work pretty well as well as divx..... just make sure all codecs are installed..... catch ya l8rs
