That is correct!
I had a thompson, wich it sucked cuz it couln't read cdrs, i heard that phillips drive's the same thing as the thompson, samsung's the best 1 cuz it can read everything,

Neways i have a samsung drive now!

Weird! u sure u have a samsung dvd drive? not sure if they all look as the picture, mine does, open up ur box n verify tha you have a samsung drive, just open up the xbox cover.

i checked it and its definently a samsung dvd drive it reads all dvdrs but no cdrs and cdrws
i think i have a executioner 2 chip (well i think it is it cost £60 for both installation and chip and i think it was the most expensive one there)
its weird cause it definently says samsung though

Well maybe it's the media, try using another brand for cdrs , it's really weird, samsung drives read everything, sorry 2 hear that urs doesn't.

you can get a modified one that is guranteed to read any media. www.globalhackz.com . say you came from SNICK! and you may get it a bit cheaper.

i live in the uk and he ships to whole worldand have never had a prob
