Does this happen if you play from the ORIGINAL CD, and not use a crack?

no just when i use the crack. but i liked the no cd crack. i wonder if a new one will be released. it must do a crc on itself to tell if the file size changed or something

I just installed the game and got the nocd crack and I get the same thing it brings you to http://www.spa.org/piracy/faq/default.asp
Quite funny really. Any ideas on WTF is up? and no matter what I do it just starts the game and as soon as you get to the main screen in 5 seconds it shuts the game down and brings up that site.

Yeah that worked, disabling the inet connection. Problem is that the game SUCKS! All that just to find out I wasted $50........ God I hate that. The no cd crack came from as always either here on megagames if not then www.gamecopyworld.com

Yeah but compared to games like Medal of Honor or the new Vietcong this game sucks. Unless you like the old school feel that it seems to have.

Anyone figure out the deal with the no-CD crack? I realize it can be played with the original CD in the drive, but I have an affinity for putting my CDs out of harms way and running games w/out whenever possible.

The work around seems easy enough, apply the crack and disconnect from the internet, but it's just a hassle, if I wanted to mess around with unplugging a cat5 cable every time I decided to fire it up then it would be just as easy to keep track of the CD.

As far as that goes, there is one CD in the drive and it's for UT2003 (because that's definitely not a single player interest!)

Not untill someone get's around the online check. Aside from unpluging your Rj-45 you can just release your IP. Easier that way too. When you want back online just renew the IP.

When installing, the game creates a directory called (say it with me) "Devastation" in your "My Documents" folder. In this directory there is a file called "cd.key". If one were to edit that file (right-click, edit) they might discover that it contains, of all things, the CD key entered when installing. Now suppose a person were to backspace out all of those numbers and replace them with something innocous like an "s" (that's right, just an s without quotes) and save the changes, something interesting might happen upon restarting the game.

If you own a private ip address. its still possible to connect trough the internet to play lan games. just disable all kind of DHCP. and default gateway. And enter just your IP & subnet. Leave the DNS and gateway empty.
this disables the internet connection. and still ables my cabel modem too play with other.
