PS2 cheat disc

I have a Magic 3 chip in my console and backingup ps2 to dvd-r is fine and dandy...But been an old lazy sod i like to use some cheats on some games i get stuck on...I bought a cheat disc to get round that problem,but i stupidly forgot that i have to reset the machine to boot a dvd-r game..This in turn removes all the cheat info off the disc once reset is pressed..I backed up the original cheat disc thinking once i reset the game would work with all the cheats.NO NO NO :doh:
Is there a way round it to make the cheat disc work ??

if you mean something like the action replay 2 it should work as normal.Just put the disc in let it load select cheats then start game with codes then swap for the dvd-r when the ar2 says please insert disc.Or at least thats how i use my ar2 on my messiah chip.But i don't know if magic chips support the use of cheat discs anyway ,i know the magic 2 didn't support them but i think the magic 3 is supposed 2

Interesting mate...The cheat disc i got was a cheap one on sale from my lacal Video Hire Shop..I might have to lay my hands on a proper Action Replay or X-Ploder and test them out....I also thought the Magic 3 chip should support cheat discs....It must be the cheap ****ty one that is rubbish
