ok i have a dvd-r game and a chip in ps2 and a gameshark 2. i've already tried one boot method (holding the button, swapping disks, etc.). is there any other boot methods, or is it because of my chip, or my gs2? i have the gs2 v2, could that be the problem?

need more details like when you do the dvd-r boot method does the tray not come out by itself or does the game not boot.
It could be you have usb mod or a neo2.2 in 5 wire mode so you cant boot dvd-r or it could just be you didn't do the method right or are using dvd-r's that your ps2 can't read.
So more details please.

Well then you ethier have a neokey which will be in the usb port or you have a neo2.2/starchip wired in 5 wire mode instead of 8.Ethier way unless the tray ejects by itself you cant boot dvd-r.

Indeed. Go to the GS2 screen and select start game without codes. When it sais insert game, you hold the eject button, it should start making some funky whining and beeping sounds. The reset light should turn a brighter color, wich will be because of the orangle light in the back lighting up also. You should see that light as well. Anyways, when the whining stops, the tray should open automatically. Once it opens swap the GS2 disk with the copied game and wait till the beeping and whining stops. Sometimes it will close again by itself, and you will have a time period of about 5 seconds in wich to swap that copied game. Sometimes the light will just turn back to the regular green and you will have to hold the eject button again to close it(yes it will close if you just press it, but this is how you have to do it). In either case, once it closes you must immediately press the X button. Also, in most modchips I have seen, including the USB mods, a Gameshark Version 2 is highly recommended. If you dont have that version, i recommend you get it POST HASTE!

I have a few questions about burning PS2 games. I don't have a mod chip, but I've read that you can still make a game boot by doing a swap method by taking off the front of the tray and flipping a switch to make the tray pop out so you can put a burned game in. What I was reading said that Gameshark 2 or Action Replay 2 v1.1, 1.2 & 1.3 were the best, will v2 or newer work?
Does it matter if I copy my game to a CDR or a DVD-R or DVD-RW? Will any of them boot with a good copy made and using this swapping method?
Will Alcohol 120% make a good back up copy? I've read mostly about CDRWIN, but I don't have that. If I get CDRWIN, can I burn it with DVD Decrypter and have a good copy?
Thanx for answering my questions.
