View Full Version : Hi-val DVD Drive not reading CD format???

Could some one please help me out here.
I have a Hi-val DVD drive in my pc and it wont read any type of CD format.
It plays DVDs fine but no cds.
Even the box it cam in said that it has cdrom support.
Here are the specs on the side of the box.
Hi-Val HDVD12A-16R
12xDVD
40xCDrom
Reads CDR,CDRw,DVD-r and +r,DVDRW, DVD all region,vcd,svcd,music cd and all game media.

By the way this is my slave drive to my Pioneer a04/104 DVD-R burner.
All jumpers are set properly so I am totaly lost at this point and need help from one of you experts out there.

There are several reasons why your CD-ROM won't read CD-R's or CD-RW's. This happens mostly because of the way the CD's were written. The CD-ROM should read the CD-R's and CD-RW's just like a normal CD. Try the CD-R or CD-RW on another CD-ROM drive, not a CD-RW drive. Another reason would be the software that you used to record the CD. The software may have been out of date or not compatible with the brand of CD-R's or CD-RW's you are using. One example would be Adaptec's DirectCD (UDF format). DirectCD software records the in a UDF format, which is not compatible with this drive. You can fix this by going to
