Messiah 2 chip with v7 PS2

Hey everyone. I have heard that MEssiah 2 chipped on a version 7 ps2 will not play dvd9 games like xenosaga, even the original? any thoughts?

It should play it dont see why the version of ps2 would make any difference.The only chip i heard of having probs with dvd9 are the magic chips
