Aaaaaaaaaargh

I need some help as my mind has turned to mush not only do I have 6weeks to pass semester 4 of my Cisco course, I now have to finish my Networking diploma by the end of the week.

I just need to describe:

1. wireless, 2.baseband cable, 3.broadband cable transmission techniques & the advantages and limitations of each.

I am willing to pay 150 credits for each part;)

Wat do u mean by describe, like how to, or just plain explanations of what they are?

Yeah,

Just a simple explanation of what each one does with their advantage & limitation :)

Overview
A wireless LAN (WLAN) is a flexible data communication system implemented as an extension to, or as an alternative for, a wired LAN within a building or campus. Using electromagnetic waves, WLANs transmit and receive data over the air, minimizing the need for wired connections. Thus, WLANs combine data connectivity with user mobility, and, through simplified configuration, enable movable LANs.

What is Baseband?

Baseband signal is where audio and video scrambling is used in conjunction with coaxial (fiber optic)cable. The cable company de-synchronizes the pulse system thus moving the video/audio signal to a neutral channel(usually FM). The picture rolls and displays a wiggly white line running down the left, right or both sides of the screen. This outband type usually places the missing sinc on channels 42, 49, 50, 52 or 53. The Descrambler unit restores the pulse synchronization making it possible for vertical and horizontal video and audio signal to stabilize.

might be of some help.

Broadband summary:

- Digital signal modulated onto RF carrier (analog).
- Channel allocation based on FDM.
- Head-End for bidirectional transmission.
- Stations connected via RF modems.

ADVANTAGES:
1. Data, voice and video
2. Greater distances (less repeaters or hubs needed)
3. Tansmit many signals (bits) at the same time, because one cable has many smaller and thinner wires in it and eacch wire act as a channel
4. Greater bandwidth (because of the multiple channels)

DISADVANTAGES:
1. Cable design (big, fat and ugly :) cables)
2. Alignment and maintenance
3. High cost, and because these cables transmit analog signlas, it requires modems to convert to digital
4. Lack of well developed standards, which means there can occur compatibility problems.

Now I'm going to be honest: I got this information from a good website.
And Brick, I also use cisco at school (yes, in France :)), what do you study?
