playing a cdr in a dvd player..

Hi guys ..
Was wondering when I make mixed cd's with Nero or anyother burning program they dont play in my DVD player which is a Sony if that matters..any way to make this work?

I think songs dont work on dvds, if it works on the computer or a ps1 or one of those kinds theres no problem with the cd, some DVDs wont play mp3s.
