I have a downloaded file of a freeware program (a program we need for school) which has the extention .iso.exe

I know iso is an image file which you just have to burn on a CD, but this one is like this: "nameoftheprogram.iso.exe" and the readme file says that I have to rename it to iso... What do they mean? Do I just have to rename the "program.iso.exe" to "program.iso.iso" or what?? Could someone please help, I'm totally new to image burning (I used to do this on the fly")

Just remove the .exe from the end of file name and use CDRWin to burn.

Try and mount the image to see what is on it, but if it is an .exe then try and run it see what happens.

If no joy the sorry i have no clue.

Try and run the exe maybe its a self extractor. If not just change the .exe to .iso. I know before people change their extentions so their servers or whatever won't delete them. Not sure if that's the case here tho.

Furburger is right. Just remove the .exe from the end and burn to CD.

I also agree with Furburger, just remove the .exe and burn image with ECC or other burning softwares that supports ISOs.

How much over 700mb is it? If your CDRW supports it you can write just a little over 700mb on a 700mb CD. But make sure your CDRW supports it first.

I don't know if it's 800 Mb, but I do know there are bigger CD's. Anyways, the file is 730 Mb big   , and I don't know if I can overburn: nero doesn't want to overburn, nor does cloneCD :(

But thanks for your helps, comrades, greatly appreciated ;)

as mentioned, make sure your burner can handle big files.
what burner is it ?

enable overburn in Nero - file ->preferences -> tab expert features, set time to 79 minutes and 59 seconds.

nero help here - http://www.nero.com/en/index.html#c1002822798638
read the faq.

chart of modes and capacity here - http://www.nero.com/en/content/helptool/733.htm#o321

Hustla, you've seen 80min cdrs right??

They're the same thing as 800meg cdrs.

You can even get 90min ones(I assume that means around 900meg of space:confused: ), but I've never used one.

Nero says overburning could damage the burner. I've a LITEON. may I do it or not? Is it safe? If it isn't, is there a way to do it with clonecd safely?

Well it's a program we need for school, and the school claims it's freeware, so... We can get the CD with this program normally via the school, but you have to wait for weeks before it arrives, so I just downloaded it from kazaa lite.

Actually 80 min. CD's are 700 MB ;)
*edit..WWH beat me to it.

personally I would have just downloaded ISO Buster (www.isobuster.com) and extracted the image, and first tested it.

Yes, I think I'm going to do that, Vile, because what you get from kazaa isn't always working correctly.
Thanks for your help guys.

Does this software have a name?... I would be interested to know what it is - could be useful to everyone if its freeware.

It's a dutch program  I don't think anyone here is interested in a dutch accounting program. (yes, I have informatics and economy and we have to use a dutch program:))

Anyway, it's called "Boekhouding 2000" which means "Accounting 2000"... bah! I hate accounting! You want it? ;)
