sorry about asking question after question but I need help again... today I got new ram for my HP Pavilon. Its my "FAMILY COMPUTER" not mine. ( i have custom) yet I tried to update it, but as you know if anyone has an HP computer you have to take everything out to put some ram in, I HATE IT! anyway, I have no Idea what I did. I tried to put humpty dumpty again, but I could never do it agian. Anyway I would like to know if there is any tutorial online that I could find, or something telling me what to put in were.
P.S. I am verry fustrated and I HATE HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and compaq)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THX In advance.
Well, I have told ppl this for years. Avoid HP and Compaq like the plaque. Anyways, call up their tech support. If they are nice, they will give you an adress on their website, or a VERY nice person may even guide you through everything. Don't know what else to do!
Or maybe just use your past experience (your custom build comptuer) and put it back together. How different could it really be? I took apart a dell easily and put it back together. It can't be hard!

Some pieces are attached to the motherboard and can't be removed. But I don't think RAM is attached :)
Anyway, I agree with Aman: avoid compaq or HP
Well I bought this computer when I didn't know anything about it. (it was 1999) and I don't have any more "SUPPORT" for it and I only had a three year warenty. The thing that is wierd is that although everything is somewhat like my other comp. The thing is that It had to find out what goes were, and the friggin case is so small I don't know which is what, I put everything were I thought it would go but it would only beep twice and then it wouldn't do anything, so I think I put something in the wrong spot or something, but I can't figure it out cause although it seems like its in the right spot, and its pissing me off.

Nowadays even Compaq and HP home user PC's use standard components, so it shouldnt be that diff.
If its frustrating you, I suggest visiting your local PC shop. I tend to break things when I get too frustrated......
If you need more help, I have an HP Pavillion 8540 case left over from a customers upgrade, I could take some piccys of it while I stuff in a left over PC Chips (ack... 'orrible) Micro ATX mobo and a few other bits to make a complete PC. Just dont expect it in a few hours, I will have to fit it in sometime over the coming week.
HP are just not as good as they once were, neither are Compaq, but at least Compaq use standard PC bits now, no more custom BIOS's and stuff.
Dell are still good, and their Optiplex cases are really easy to get into, I love those things.
But if you really want compact and neat, get a Sun SparcStation. I got a couple of 20's, it just brings out the geek in you.....
