stay away from the {purple} bulkpack media the image dont seem to burn properly and it fades quickly
what i mean by fade is that the image can be excellent one minute and trash the next
i use the {yellow} datawrites good enough for me
and the pioneer dvr 105 is the one i intend getting next

The best place to buy the stuff is ebay .You can get some steals . My friend bought recently an SONY Top the line retail burner for $150 dollars NEW .This one guy didn't put a reserve on this item .
Just stick with a major brand .In dvd writers ,you don't want a no name brand .
here is a few good brands ,
Lite on ,memorex ,sony ,Plextor ,samsung ,tdk,Pioneer ,toshiba ect .
What I would end up doing if I where to buy one is to go to ebay see which one is the cheapest name brand I can get .Hope this helps .

If money is not really an object ,then go for the Pioneer or the Plextor .2 of the best .

how about the sony dru500ax ? it does dvd-r and dvd+r.
Just buy anything besides an HP - they really suck.
