thanks for the reply. i guess the real question i'm trying to find an answer to is that i want to backup ps2 games, so which format is the ps2 games and backup games? dvd-r or dvd+r? also which format are xbox games and xbox backup games? this will help me determine what type of dvd burner to get and what blank discs to buy. any info will be great, thanks

some ps2's can use both +r and -r .... but for better compatibility and results, stick with -r
not sure if xbox plays +r, but i know mine will play any sort of crappy -r media i through at it. unbranded, bulkpaq etc ...
the ps2 is alot more fussy. datasafe/datawrite and ritek media seem to give best results .... also neo-premium if you can get your hands on them .... there cheap and have great results. (not sure if they have changed the dye since i last used them mind, so...)
as for which writer to get .... you cannot go wrong with Pionner range... there are re-badged pioneer drives out .... cynedene or something .... they are cheap, and do the business.
