Cd rom Problem

HI I am running win2k and for some reason my cdroms are acting funny. When I try to copy a file the computer locks until I manually eject the disc then it will start responding again. Also when I play music cd's they crackle alot and sometimes pause for a second then continue.

Problem fixed, I had to enable dma.

Next time try doing it for at least 30 minutes then ask the problem so we can figure it out ok?

I tried all day to fix it. I am new to windows 2000 and in didn't have the dma setting in the cdrom properties like in win98. I didn't relize I had to configure it in the ide controller.
