having some trouble with this....to host a game at gamespy arcade, u need certain ports open, and my router ( linksys BEFW11S4 wireless 4 port router) w/ built in firewall is blocking those ports. i no which ports they are, just not off the top of my head....but anyway...i cant figure out where to go to open them up....Please help me. $REWARD$ (for a solution that WORKS) :)

To open the ports you have to go to open internet explorer internet options i think it was somewhere there theres a tab you like on that and theres a box ticked you have to un tick that sorry couldnt find it usually i find it.

It might be in your network places go through there look at the your internet company and look at the settings there.

I have a Linksys router:

Type this adress in your adress bar:

192.168.1.2

From there, hit the advanced tab and then click forwarding. Then you are available to forward your ports!

i have a linksys router as well...like him i cant host games...i have a

linksys BEFSR41 v2

not wireless...i type the thing into teh address bar in IE and it doesnt work aman...nothing comes up except msn search cause it cant find it

@nosolution i dont use gamespy...its WAY too laggy/...and takes FOREVER to refresh teh servers...use xbconnect

www.xbconnect.com IT ROCSK i get many servers under 100 ping i suggest u try that when u host games;) or join games

WOOPS!

Typed the wrong thing!

Nosolution this works I promiss:

Type in 192.168.1.1

Then it will ask for a user name and password: Just type in 'admin' as password and leave the username blank. Then you will get to the screen and then just follow the instructions above:

From there, hit the advanced tab and then click forwarding. Then you are available to forward your ports!

aman thanx a lot for the help... but the problem has been sorted, i did it a differnet way, but i might give ur way a shot @ wwh, dont u have to pay for xbc now?

Nosulotion44 i heard that u found out how to get gamespy to work on ur computer, i need u to tell me step by step to help me. I can't find out how to make it work if you can help me please reply. Anyone who knows the anserw to config my router to work on gamespy or xbconnect please reply thx.

Check in your router manual.

You often just write the default IP in IE, then it will open admin page for your router.
