Hi, firstly a little plug-in for anyone wanting to chip there ps2.
In other threads ive posted you'll find one about ps2 flip lid and magic swap, all in all it cost me £40 and it didnt work, i wasted about 4 weeks in this process. I then sent my PS2 off to www.playstationrepairs.co.uk to be fitted with the magic 3 chip, there are other chips to chose from but i chose this one. it cost me £80 this included the chip fitting and return shipping costs. after about 2 weeks i got the ps2 back fully working absolutly no problems at all. if you want a quick return you can pay them by credit card or postal order, i sent a cheque so had to wait for clearance. Anyway, my ps2 is now it ace condition and fully working to play back-ups, the only problem was playing USA games they were in black and white, i bought a RGB scart lead and sorted the prob out.

If any one is thinking of getting there PS2 chipped i would reccomend this company.

Anyway back to my thread.

I dont pocess a dvd writer only a cd rewriter so i cannot back up dvds, however i do have ps2 games on cd such as dave mirra bmx, my question is what is the best software to back up these cd games and which is the best media to use. Also is it true you have to read and write the data at very low speed such as X2, ive backed up ps1 games in the past using max speed and the games worked fine but im told you cannot do this for ps2 games.

i eould appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks folks.

alcohol 120 , clone cd, cdrwin etc all will back up ps 2 cd's
alcohol 120 is esy to use as it puts in the correct settings for u for a ps2 back up, as for speed read and write, this shouldn't be an issue up to 32 x if the writer and discs are up to it, forget 1 and 2 x speeds (load o tripe).. hope this elps

Hi mate,Use clone cd for ps2 games ripped to cd,best media probably verbatim datalife+,if you can afford it get yourself a dvd writer, not too dear now pioneer a/105 under £200,ps2 games no protection:clap: .Would recommend you use your writer to read and write discs, read speed not that important but to make sure of a good backup no faster tha X4 IMO
