i rented this game and its the best racing sim ive ever played...its JUST like gran turismo 3 but the graphics are juiced up way more...light reflects of the rear windsheild and you can see the reflection of tree branches on it as you pass...light effects are beyond real...evreyone that has xbox must at least try this game...its basically the same as gran turismo with way more features like taking pictures during you replays and hanging them up in your garage by the trophies you win by coming in first on certain races...its a definite BUY if you liked gran turismo...which i LOVED gran turismo 1-3...i almost bought a ps2 because of GT3 but this game tops it...

I have you read any of the reveiws for this game. Everyone says it is not as good as gt3 nor does it look as good. Oh yeah more features my ass I played this at a friends house I spent the night at his house so its not like just played it for a few hours but anyways You cant get nearly the amount of upgrades for your car.
Plus gt3 has more cars than sega gt and all that you can see light reflect of the windshield and the shadows of trees on the track gt3 has all that.
This is a great addition for xboxs racing genre but its no way in any shape or form a gt3 killer.

Oh wait I take that back about more features my ass cause yeah gt3 doesnt have that stuff sorry my mistake.

lol your lucky i was a bout to pounce on you about the features...
and btw...you UNLOCK more features by winning races...such as stage 4 weight reduction which GT3 doesnt have...theres like 5-6 more upgrads that have to be unlocked...so make sure you play the whole game before you start judging it
AND i dont believe you that you played it at your friends and say gt3 has better graphics...ill admit the crashing in this game isnt that great...thats what makes it worse...check this out
"Because Sega GT 2002 is constantly forcing you to dump money into your car, you'll develop a sense of ownership to it, especially since you won't be able to afford dozens of cars at once like you can in Gran Turismo 3. Instead, you'll find yourself treating each car that comes into your possession--no matter the make or model--with a sense of pride. And when it comes time to part with your pride and joy, you can set your own selling price that you feel is reflective of the hard work and upgrades that you've poured into it. As long as your price is reasonable, you'll eventually be able to find a buyer. You can also choose to sell to a dealer for a faster transaction, though there's no negotiating the price there. Sega GT 2002 has a certain personal touch not found in other racing games, and this personal touch is emphasized in the game's garage mode, which not surprisingly, is an actual garage. You can admire your cars here, sure, but you can also examine all the awards and trophies you've won, take a look at posters of your car that you create using the replay editor, or check on any car that you might have on sale on your driveway. You can even buy trivial items like guitars or potted plants to freshen up the garage's appearance, if you like.
The sound is also very well done in Sega GT 2002, and the game really captures the cacophonic growl of some of the high-end cars that you'll come across. When in the first-person perspective, your engine noise and that of other cars is noticeably subdued, but when you switch to an external view, the sounds--particularly the exhaust notes--become noticeably louder. The game doesn't have a ++++pit view, so you'll have to use one of the two third-person angles in order to see any part of your car while racing, which is a shame, because racing from these perspectives detracts from the game's otherwise superb sense of speed, which is slightly exaggerated by using a subtle streaking effect at the corners of the TV screen. The car models themselves are accurately modeled, and the textures in particular hold up very nicely at close range. Likewise, the environment boasts very impressive lighting that throws shadows and reflections off of car and track surfaces realistically."

this is just sega gt 2002 not 2003 or 2004...like gran turismo 1...there are a few things that could be approved...but i see a gran turismo in teh making....gran turismo is not as good as gran turismo 3 is it? i think that explains what im trying to get through
"Car enthusiasts can appreciate the vast assortment of vehicles. For the real buffs, however, the game features options to fix your car for an even faster ride: Adjust the weight, add a muffler, or sport racing tires to blow away the competition. Enhancements to cars make a difference in the controls, plus you can feel when the tires and brakes are wearing down, which adds to the game's authenticity. Sega GT 2002 is nicely tuned with both a solid graphic engine and a smooth, idling soundtrack, but not everything is good under the hood."

imo I like in PGR how the cars got smashed and you can see the damage...some crash issues but other than that, NOTHIN. this game rocks.
UPDATE: no that i think about it...gt3 is a BIT better but remeber...this is the first one...like GT1...GT1 is not like GT3...now that sega released this first game of an upcomin series the games will just get better...GT1 wasnt perfect either...so now sega has that experince in a racing/sim so now they kno how to make sega gt2003 ...2004 perfect...or at least better...but the game still rocks

Yeah I see your point about this is the first game in the series for xbox but alot of people were saying it was a gt3 killer which its not but its getting there. Who knows maybe the sega gt series will end up being better than the GT series I cant wait to see what GT4 and sega GT 2003 look like. Also like gt3 I bet sega gt 2002 only used like 20-25% of xbox power and the next one will use like 40-50% percent of xbox power.

Gt3 pushing ps2s power lol It only uses 25% of it and sega gt also uses 25% of xboxs power. Also nothing on xbox has had any game that makes anyone say why I bet ps2 and gc cant do that. Now I know some ps2 games have bad graphics but its not the consoles fault its the developer fault.
