The sporting side of fishing should be banned, but when it comes to feeding ppl there should be tighter controls for fishing and make it seasonal trade, as to let the fish re-populate so the speices don't become extinct. But humans will do as they please and fish till there's none left. Just like the hunters will keep on hunting the whales & seals, dolphins, etc.... to extinction

At last something i am qualified to talk about. I fish on a regular basis, i do beach/pier/rock and boat fishing. Can't be doing with all that course fishing malarky. I fish for relaxation and the occasional fish for the table. Any fish myself or anyone i fish with catches that is under sized is returned safely, and only what can be eaten is kept. As to whether it is cruel or not, personally i think not as serious anglers take great care with any fish that are caught. Depleting fish stocks in our oceans and seas is a worlwide problem, but it is not the angler that is to blame. It is the fault of the massive factory ships that sweep an area, catch everything they can, and then destroy what is of no use to them. Pleasure anglers like myself account for a minute amount of fish taken from the Worlds waters. Goverments need to do something about the factory ships before looking to blame pleasure anglers. OT.

Fishing should be banned because its so boring fishing and it gives less population of fish people can eat other animals like pork etc.

I don't have a problem with fishing, whenever me and my grandfather went, we let the fish go.

I don't like fishing neither for sport nor for eating. In fact, I avoid eating fish and meat altogether (yes col, I'm a vegeterian  )

I'd have to agree with OldTimer. Recreational fishing (while not a pastime of mine) is pretty harmless in the big scheme of things. I mean, here in Australia, it's an advantage. We have the Murray River that used to be filled with Murray Cod, but now European Carp have come in and are taking over. All euro carp caught are taken, whereas murray cod are almost always thrown back.
It's the massive ships - some actually have processing factories on board - that are really depleting our fish stocks.

Yeah, fishing helps to keep fish populations stable.
