First of all, it is not a smart move to change anything in the registry if you don't know what it do. Secondly, your problem is due to improper uinstalling. Here are a couple of things you can try.
Go to Control Panel>Add & Remove Software and uninstall Kazaa the correct way. Then reinstall Kazaa. If this doesn't work, I think you have to remove the key manually. Go to Startmenu>Run and type "regedit" without the "s. Now, go here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Kazaa and delete the Kazaa folder. Once you done that, go to window explower>c:\Program Files and del the kazaa folder. Now, try to reinstall it.
Hope this will help you. Good luck. ;)

Install a different version of kazaa. Try this 1. (Uploaded to my webspace):

you can also try and install kazaa over previous version, then uninstall correctly.

If you reinstall kazaa you will loose any partial downloads. -no matter which version you reinstall.
The version on kazaa I have posted has a set participation level of 1000 all the time, as well as a new start page. Its worth doing after you finished your big downloads.

Why can't you del the kazaa folder? it's in program files. Just push del and click yes.

Greetings.
Try this Since you Already Messed with your Registry...
Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\KaZaA(whateverversion).... And Delete the Kazaa Folder in that path. now...
Click on HKEY_CURRENT_USER and goto EDIT then Find.. and type KaZaA, and search for any KaZaa registry keyz. just manually delete em.. there are no major registry strings for kazaa..
NEXTIME you delete Registry Keys.. without being 100% sure about it.. Make Sure you save to the Keys to a Registry File by Clicking Export.
Note: i can delete all the Registry keys for HKEY_Local_machine\Software\KaZaA Lite and it automatically [re]sets up the registry... users name=default, and default options are on after words.
