View Full Version : HELP: Mafia Installation
Ok here's the deal.
I have a version of MAFIA.
It was in three BIN. Packages.
All extracted without any probs to my desktop and are in 3 seperate folders.
now the first CD has the setup file on it, however when i launch it and the splash screen pops up, I haven't got the option to setup.
Now i know this is something to do with the copyright on the CD
However I am asking of anyone has a solution to this? Or knows a way around it.
Thanks.
By the way, this is a BACKUP, and I DO OWN THE ORIGINAL :)

It's kind of tricky i was tricked also. But the unshaded word which is install means to install the game. The shaded is "un" which is to uninstall the game but since it's not installed it will remain shaded.
My question to who ever installed this game; How come upon burning the first CD 1 onto a cd it tells me I need to put CD 1 one. For some reason it doesnt seem to recognize my CD 1. Is this a problem with the cd or something else?
Anyone have any suggestions on how to install this game, it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok
So if i burn the first folder to CD and then launch the setup.exe, the currently shaded out "setup" option will be available?

No.
When you burn the CD 1 onto a CD, the setup will still remain the same. You would have to install the game so that the play and setup are white. If you look at "un" and "Install"; you will see that "un" is gray, and "Install" is white, thus telling you that install is accessable not "un". So you really cannot uninstall a game if you haven't installed it yet right?
Note: The game will not install. I don't know what version you have, but I have PRMISO and you cannot install the game. When it asks you for the first CD 1, it will not read it. So it is near impossible to install.
Good luck,
BumbinoGuy
P.S
If anyone gets this game to work, can please let me know how you did it. I burned each folder to a CD and cannot install the game.
Thanks!

What does it say when you click install?
Try going to my computer then right click the cd icon and press explore then go to the install icon if that doesnt work you might need a crack and the answer is here: http://216.127.84.110/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=7004#post7004

When I click the install button, nothing happens. I recieve no respons at all. I should be able to run the install launcher without any cd in the drive with the no-cd crack, arenīt I? The crack from megagames doesnīt do any good at this point.

Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.net)
Seems I'm not the only one with the prob lol.
This is how it works for me...
I click the setup launcher
splash screens comes up
I have like 5 options i think
PLAY
SETUP
UN/INSTALL
some video thing
READ ME
EXIT
and out of all of those options....
NONE work when clicked lol.
PLAY
SETUP
are both grayed out completely. Where as the other 3 will light up with mouse over.
Like i said before, I'm fairly certain it's something to do with CD Protection, perhaps safedisk. However I'm at a fullstop on how to get around it. I've never had a problem like this before..

Halleluja! Rob, solution has arrived. Use the program Daemon tools and open your bin-files. It says that bin is not supported, but select "all-files" to show your bin files and select your bin1 file. Bin files are supported and continue bin2 and bin 3 in the same way. Good luck.
Great, did it install ok?
I mean, was the setup option there when you went to the launcher?

I told you :)
Try with Daemon Tools ;)

When you mount the first .bin file, it automatically installs the game. Then you have to mount each .bin file when itīs required through the installation process. Then you have to have a no-cd crack to run the game.
Great.
One thing though, through daemon tools can you extract them and burn each BIN to CD?
Because Im guessing the same crap would happen and it wouldn't allow you to install again like the first problem we had.
Or am I completely wrong? lol

Daemon tools worked pretty good with me too. You just go one by one installing as you would all three cds. The only problem with the Mafia game is; you cannot extract the ISO and burn to disk. It will not allow you to install due to HIGH protection. All other games work fine as I normally do with WINISO.
You cannot play the game with no cd crack because it doesnt work. You will have to go to the first bin file using Daemon tools and choose play after you installed it with daemon tools. That's the only solution so far. But as for burning to disk and installing from there; no dice.
BumbinoGuy!
Well I've just got done downloading the fairlight copy and extracted it with an ISO Buster and what ya know...It installs fine, didn't need Daemon for it and the 3 folders can be burned to CD...
lol.

I don't think that's possible. It's not about extracting it because I used WINISO which has worked with every single ISO I have; and Mafia doesn't work period. It will always ask you for the CD in order to install.
So do I believe you? No.
Anyways, why would you want this game, it's not all that good.

I had the same problem installing (Fairlight version)Mafia. I downloaded Dameon tools and at first it looked as if i would finally be playing Mafia as it was installing great. After about 30 seconds of installing the first file, A1.dta, it just won't go any further. WHY!!!???? I've tried twice now and let it sit for like 20 mins and it won't install past this 1st file. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!
Thanks,
Jason

The only way to play the game or install it correctly is to burn the .cue file to a CD. Daemon tools does work but not for everyone. Make sure you have a .cue file created for the .bin and burn the cue file using nero or other burning programs that support burning cue's.
