Backing Up Age of Mythology

I have searched the forums and have found little discussion on how to successfully back up (1:1) of AOM.

I have backed up both original CD's & encountered numerous read errors. Used Nero (latest version- which took some time to back up) and Sony CDRx175A1. Am i right in presuming that SafediskV2 is responsible?

My attempts fail at installing the backed up disks due the read errors occuring and not being able to read specific files on the installation disks.

I can obviously play off the original disks, however my general rule of thumb is to make a 1:1 and use that (due to some careless habits of my kids etc).

This is the first real prob i have had backing up with Nero. Has anyone else encountered this or can offer any suggestions???

I use CloneCD. I've been using it for a looooooooooooong time now. It copies this protection quite well. (Assuming that your hardware is up to the task)

Nero is NOT the way to go for these newer copy protections.

P.S. Yes, the errors are because of the protection, and are to be expected no matter what.

I'll give Clone CD a go. I have the latest version but really haven't used it much, due to Nero usually coming up with the goods.

Do you recommend Daemon Tools?

i recommend alcohol120% is better than clone cd

I personally have never needed Daemon Tools. I use CloneCD exclusively to make 1:1 copies. I've heard Alcohol is good too, but I've also heard that sometimes Alcohol does NOT make a true 1:1 copy & relies on emulation.

CloneCD worked a treat as per Copy Lord's advice. I highly recommend CloneCD and congratulate the knowledge that is offered for little reward at this site.:clap:

yeah its good i use alcohol120% to copy cds but i use nero for all my other burning needs
