Can Ps2 Games Be Played On Xbox?

Here's the scoop. One of my buddies says there is a mod chip for the xbox that will allow me to play ps1/2 games on it.

Is he out of his mind or does such a mod exists?

I'm a die hard PS fan about to buy either ps2 or xbox. I was ready to buy a ps2 but if this mod will work then the xbox would likely be my choice.

This should likely be under consol but it think it works better here since the mod would likely be an emulation of some sort.
