just a few things to congratulate and comiserate for in 2002 calender cricket year :) (up to 19th december 2002)
1) Australia finished the test year with total of 10 tests played and 9 wins (highest @ 90%) while Bangladesh (8 tests 0 wins) and Zimbabwe (6 tests 0 wins) took the bottom end
2) Highest score (individual) in a test match - 329 Inzamam-ul-Haq Pakistan v New Zealand at Lahore, 1st Test, 2002
3) Highest test average - SM Pollock (SA) - 5 innings, 210 runs, highest score - 99*, 105.00 average
4) Most runs for the year - SR Tendulkar - 1392 runs
(altho as far as i know Vaughn from england has overtaken this)
5) Best bowling figures - 9/51 M Muralitharan Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe at Kandy, 2nd Test, 2001/02
altho nice figures.... Zimbabwe arent really a power house in cricket world so figures like that could be expected.... this is more a worthy one --->
7/48 Harbhajan Singh India v West Indies at Mumbai, 1st Test, 2002/03
6) Most wickets taken in the year - SK Warne (aust), 67 wickets in 10 matches
7) Most fielding dismissals - AC Gilchrist (aust) 44 dismissals
some good things do come outta the end... in particular Vaughn from england... england having such a bad run of luck. Likewise with Warne, now out due to an arm injury but getting his wickets in only 10 matches.
this is only for test match cricket and only a few of the stats available at baggy green (http://www-aus.cricket.org/link_to_database/STATS/BY_CALENDAR/2000S/2002/)
