I'm trying to backup one of my Rainbow Six games, but I don't know how to disable the protection? Is there any sort of program or tutorial on how to do this?

Thanks.

Thanks for all the help! One last thing, any tips on removing the protection so I can make a working backup?

As Molle said , download the ClonyXXL programme, that programme detects WHAT kind of protection there is on the CD. When you know what protection it is, tell us, and we can direct you to a website where you can download tools to remove the protection.

And also, try to copy it with cloneCD on a very low read/write speed, sometimes it works...

I d/l'ed Clony XXL, and installed it. When it booted for the first time, it gave me some error about not being able to find ASPI devices or something?? Can this be fixed?

Copying games with CloneCD does not 'remove' the protection. When copied CORRECTLY, the game will work just as the original CD & still be copy protected.

My mistake.
The only way to remove the protection is with a tool designed to remove it, or by applying a crack.

Are the protection schemes hard to remove?

That depends on what protection you are talking about.

The ASPI driver didn't work. It still says "No ASPI layer detected."

You guys make it seem so hard. Just download a game fix from this site then extract the files to the game directory. Or just put the crack onto the CD and do it later.

No, I want to actually learn how to do it myself. That way, I don't have to wait on them to be released.
