Trying to setup InvisionBoard. Some probs there:

If you don't know your FTP from your PHP and your CHMOD from your CHOWN, then you might wish to consider our Installation Service. For a low cost, once only fee - one of our installation professionals will install and set up your board for you. For more information, please visit our advanced services page.

Thats from there installation guide. What does PHP, CHMOD, CHOWN mean??

______________________________
Server Requirements
You must have a webserver that has PHP 4.0.3 (or better) and mySQL 3.22 (or better) installed. If you are unsure whether your server has these programs installed, please check with your web host now. If you are capable, you can always download PHP and download mySQL and install it yourself. If your web host does not support PHP or mySQL, consider hosting your entire web site or forums with IPS Hosting services.
Invision Board works best on an Apache server, and is Apache 1 and Apache 2 savvy.

I want to setup Inv.Board at web1000.com, probably they might be having PHP & mySQL because they are offering their YaBB forums free but with there ADVERTISEMENT! I don't know whether they have PHP & mySQL? I have gone through FAQ's but they have not mentioned anything.
And whats that "Apache server, and is Apache 1 and Apache 2 savvy "
Not getting it. Please help.

______________________________
General Requirements
You do not need a new mySQL database as Invision Board supports table prefixes to prevent tables being overwritten.
You will also need the mySQL username and mySQL password for a mySQL user that has permission to "CREATE", "DROP" and "ALTER" tables.
______________________________
From where should I get mySQL username & pass

______________________________
Once the directories have been created, CHMOD "archive_in", "archive_out" and "uploads" to 0755 (if you get permissions errors later on, you can CHMOD these to "0777".
______________________________
What is that "CHMOD.....to 0755....0777" ???

Italics from installation guide.

Those are some doubts..........if web1000.com doesn't have PHP & mySQL is there any host (free) providing it? I saw coolfreepages.com has PHP but don't know about mySQL.
:( :( :(

I dont think web1000 offers PHP + MySQL.
The terminology they are using is just to scare you, it's nothing fancy. The only important one there is CHMOD, and that means setting certain permissions for a directory/file. Basically they want you to CHMOD a folder, so that it has writing permissions. The typical setting for this is 777. To CHMOD a file or folder, connect to your server VIA FTP, right click on the folder, and select CHMOD. THen manually put in 777, that's the fastest way.

You will prob also need to create a database. Usually this is done through the control panel on the host, but as I said, I do not think web1000 provides this.

I think space reports provides free php + mysql. Molle should have the link to that.

My specialty is vBulletin, but since both boards run on PHP + MySQL it should be similar. With that said, let me know if you need any help setting it up.

watch out for spaceports, they delete boards without index files.

got mine removed before.

ALL sites, regardless of server, must have a valid index file. The specific extenion can be .htm, .html, or .shtml; CGI-BIN allows some additional extensions.

@Molle
Sorry to trouble u......but I cannot get u??:(

Do u mean that there r no ads on other files but only on index.html...

Please help!

------------------------------------

I got an idea to remove that ad.........u see for that ad they add javascript......
< script language = "JavaScript" src="http://ads.mircx.com/scripts/spaceports/javascript.cgi">< / script >

If we got a code by which any javascript doesn't work......than......than its FUN!

i'm saying, that if they don't see that you have an uploaded .html file on your server, they will delete your account

i.e. index.html
