Hello all,
having an argument about IP addresses linked with forum sites.
all forums I am in seem to work this way .
If I am just sitting looking at all the categories of the forum site, or doing nothing, only the sites IP address shows up, even though there may be 50 or more members and guests looking at the forum.
Only when I got to a topic and open it do I get extra IP addresses. these are usually the addresses of persons picture host sites.
thats OK. to me that is normal
One forum I am on . It shall remain nameless at moment.
I do the same thing which is nothing and not going to a topic
the host addresses keep showing up.
It seems that when anyone looks at a topic if there are pics in it
everyone that is connected to the forum get the addresses showing up on their computers.
when there are a lot of people on or looking it can slow the site right down Is it because of this? and if so what could be done about.?
Admin seem not to wanting to be involved so no help there.
there are some on the forum who insist that this is normal.
I am using the old Dos command << netstat >> to monitor
my connection.
thanks for taking the time to read this.
and hope it is not too boring for you
this is a great forum, I think,
regards,
Mighail.
