hi there just to let every one know so they dont get conned like me
philips do a philips dvd writer called a dvdrw208
says on box will burn
cd - r
cd - rw
dvd+rw
and on the dvd drive says 200 series
i thought when i got it if it will burn a dvd + rw
it will be fine with a dvd + r
but this is not true this drive will only burn a dvd + rw
i payed £249
for this in pcworld about 4 weeks ago
but i have not used it untill just other day
i even e mailed philips direct and got a e mail saying that this drive will never be able to burn dvd+rw even if you upgrade the firm ware which was one of my ideas around it
what they did say was there was a philips drive that could do dvd + r and dvd + rw as well as cd r and cd rw
called
philips dvdrw228
and they said staples do them too for £249
so i went to staple and to my suprise they sell dvdrw208 and on another shelf the dvdrw228 which states dvd+r compatablity
so be on the watch if you want a dvd writer whever it dvd +rw or even dvd-rw
that it will take dvd+r and dvd-r

have u tried different types of dvd+r media ?
if not and youve only used one brand, there could be an incompatibility issue with that particular brand, its not uncommon.
ide be very surprised if a dvd writer could use dvd+rw's and not dvd+r's

philips state that it is impossible the a dvdrw208 to burn dvd+r
there is no chance you have dvd+r s working
cant even upgrade firmware to support it

well, ide be taking it back and shoving it where the sun dont shine. dvd+r's are pricey to begin with, nevermind dvd+rw's
