Ok I have no freaking idea why they even thought about a freaking starter version. Anyway read more below to find out the 6 different types of Windows 7 that will be released.

Notheing new, I expected it will be same thing as was with Vista. Starter and Home basic, will be useless and stupid idea, Ultimate overpriced, and then we will go with Home premium. Thats just new MS marketing strategy.
They should do it like XP, two versions, Home and Professional.

Windows XP had about six editions.


Windows XP Starter Edition
Windows XP Home Edition
Windows XP Media Center Edition
Windows XP Professional
Windows XP Volume Licensing.
Windows XP Tablet PC Edition

I meant as many as there were originally for desktop PC, most of them were released later, if I remember correctly. And you forgot x64 edition, that makes them seven.

The only ones released later were:

Windows XP Media Center Edition
Windows XP Tablet Edition

The first two editions released by Microsoft are Windows XP Home Edition, designed for home users, and Windows XP Professional, designed for business and power-users.

Hmm.. I stand corrected...a bit. I guess Starter Edition wasn't released till later.

However I do know for sure Volume Licensing was available at launch because those are Corporate Licenses as well as what Dell and HP buys for their units.
