Hi guys, been having a graphics problem when gaming that I *think* is software related, not hardware.

Here are the symptoms. I'll be playing a game (list of affected games below) when suddenly, usually after about 10-15 minutes of smooth play, the graphics start slowing down and everything gets laggy and bogged down. If I alt+tab out of the game, there is usually no performance hit to other programs. Sometimes, the problem will resolve itself, but usually it won't. If I exit the game and restart it, the lagginess usually persists.

The reason why I think this is a software problem is that some of the games that this is affecting used to run just fine on the same system. I can't remember what driver upgrades or system settings changes I've made in the past months, but what should I be watching out for that could cause these new problems?

Some games that I've noted with similar symptoms:
Call of Duty 2
Tomb Raider Anniversary
Star Wars Republic Commando
Spore

I get my graphics drivers from a 3rd party website that releases nvidia driver updates for laptop cards. All other drivers I haven't touched.

Thanks in advance!

Go to start menu, right click on My Comp.,Propertis.Go to advanced tab,and click 1st settings,(in 1st settings)then go to advanced tab and change 1st and 2nd settings to Programs. If you are running Vista, then there is only one solution.Install Windows XP.Or essexman is right. You maybe have power issues.Try buying new battery,or whatever(I am PC user).

To essexman:He has laptop.

If you list your specifications of your computer we can probably better help you figure out the issue.

You also may want to try uninstalling the drivers running an application like driver cleaner or driver sweeper rebooting your machine installing the new drivers and rebooting once more.

A lot of times a bad iinstallation of drivers can cause a lot of headaches.
