View Full Version : Unable to patch Company of Heroes Gold Edition

I recently bought the COH Gold Edition. The COH Gold Edition came as a version 2.202.0.11, not 2.202.00. Every patch from 2.202 to 2.300 from every website I have downloaded does not work on the Gold Edition. I doubt it's an English version because I bought it right here in Southern CA.

Because the following problem occur:
"An error occurred while patching the file C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes\Engine\Archives\Engine.sga:. The patch may be corrupt, or the file may be different from the version the patch was create for. If you cannot resolve this problem, please contact THQ technical support. (Error code 10104)"

The proof is that it is a different version because it starts from 2.202.0.11 not 2.202 (found that out in the game executable file). There's no patch in any website and in the official COH website that has a real COH Gold Edition patch other than a COH Opposing Fronts 2.202 to 2.300 patch. That type of patch does not work on COH Gold Edition. I even tried disabling the services and the startup items from msconfig and reboot windows and the patch still didn't work. I really could need some help here.

The good news is that I am able to run COH Gold Edition as it is from the DVD unpatched without any problems though it somehow only worked on Windows XP SP3, not SP2 since that crashed too many times due to the access violation error on a file named DivxEncoder.dll.

And please don't tell me to download a patch specifically for COH Gold Edition from the Steam server. I like a full manual download rather than downloading an invisible file from an official server that cannot be released to the public for downloads, just like Half-Life 2 and their games.

One last question: for people who bought COH Gold Edition have they also have the same problem just like I did and have they ran the patch correctly?
