Last time I checked you didnt need the disc inserted to play the game.

Last time I've played(two days ago), I didn't have a need for a crack. And I have both the update and the DLC installed.

For Bring Down The Sky, you need to have your Mass Effect key registered to a Bioware account. That way, you will be able to receive the CD-key for the DLC, as the DLC is protected by a serial number. BDTS serial number it's different of the one that you've received when you've purchased your copy of Mass Effect.
