well, I've got a couple of films I've ripped in VOB.
I have tested the rips by using the DVD folder function in SMP and VLC but something seems to be faulty as the movie simply wont boot up. When I just go straight to a VOB and open it, the movie seems to play alright though.
I want to have the DVD as close to the original, without dropping extras but I think I'd have to drop the menus. The easiest way I can imagine for fixing this is by re-Authoring the DVD
help?

Help yourself with:
DVD shrink(free) http://www.dvdshrink.org/
DVD decrypter(free) http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/
If DVD has copy protection use:
CloneDVD and AnyDVD in combination(trial). http://www.slysoft.com/en/
And i hope those are backups otherwise, what you are doing is illegal and you must destroy all copies.

All you need is DVDShrink, it compresses the DVD without losing any of the menus, extras or sounds and with literally unnoticable loss in quality.

DVD Shrink is still working for me, i've never had a DVD where it hasn't been able to bypass the copy protection. :)

Then the thiing must be that movie protections are lots more easy to override than game copyprptections
Another prog I used to use when I still was on the Winbloze was DVDFab Decrypter I don't know if it' still around. But I used it one time to copy a game with a protection that have a big ring on the original disk copyed and validated the disk from the copy where alcohol 120%, Ultrais,o Blindwrite and other failed to bypass the ring surface. I never used it on movies but people I knew said had very good results of movies too
