I inserted a hdd of my friend which has a windows xp on it, on my pc(which also has a windows xp) when I open my pc I was asked which os im going to use.. of course i chose the windows xp on my hdd to boot. After doing my business(transfering files and stuff) I removed my friend's hdd from my pc.

Now here is my question..

Everytime I open my pc, it keeps on asking me which os im going to boot from even though I already remove my friends hdd and i currently have only one hdd with only one OS.. How do I remove it?

Thanks

Yes, that is quite a sticky problem. It is actually easily fixable, see if u can find out how by troubleshooting the web.

Start > Run and type msconfig

Go to BOOT.INI and it should tell you that a string is unnecessary, and ask for it to be removed.

Say yes.

Just so you know the boot.ini file is located in C:\
All you do is go to tools > folder options> view tab > uncheck "hide protected system files" and you will see it in the C:\ directory.
