I thought the game was really fun and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. I love the types of games where you can thoroughly customize your "mech". (Like Mech Warrior 3.) In the Armored Core universe, "mechs" are called Nexts. Old school "mechs" in the Armored Core Universe are called Normals.
The story really sucked. On the plus side, it did have Patrick Stewart as the Narrator on the "in-between" chapters cut scenes.
I really enjoyed the balance available with all of the parts. I did not have time to play online but from what I hear, people are really good online with this game. (Such is the case all the time.)
Some missions are hard to beat whereas others are ridiculously easy.
Defeating an enemy Next is very easy and the creators of the game make it out to be really tough. Just equip your Next with two grenade launchers and make sure the parts on your Next have high Armor and you can win easily. You can also try the the arm laser cannon duo and get a really fast lock-on chip to defeat enemies. There is this one mission, on hard mode, where you have to defeat 4 enemy nexts; I defeated all 4 of them on hard mode and got an S-Rank by equiping my Next with 2 arm laser cannons and blasting away.
I played the final mission on Hard mode right after I beat the game just for fun and I beat it my first try and got an S-rank.
I didn't have a lot of time to play the game and it was on a 5 day rental. I could beat just about every mission and get an S-rank on it on hard mode. I could not, for the life of me, get an S-Rank on Sharpshooting. I used arm grenade cannons. The best I could do was 47 seconds, 6500 AP damage, and 23000C spent on ammo....apparently, this isn't enough to get an S-Rank.
Anyway, every other mission I tried on hard mode, I beat with no problem.
If you like "mech" type games, this is a good choice. I thought it was better than Chrome Hounds.
