Black screen after windows boot

My dad's desktop is giving problems now, i started it up without any problems this day, but when he started it now, its loads untill it gets to the logon screen and its just a black screen.... safe mode works... but i cant seem to find the issue.... any suggestions??? its xp home, pc vitals are good...

alright nvm, all of a sudden the pc decided to go working again.... weird....

I figured we need to wait a really long time till the logon screen pops up.... and i dont know what causes it...

I had almost the same problem a couple of months ago, it was the boot files that was broken, cant remember how I fixed it tough, try to fix the boot files.

man ironic thing sorry if this is too offtopic but I was starting to read this thread some minutes ago and my computer went BSOD and restarted I gonna have to chek the event viewer

Stuff like this always lead me to F8 at startup and selecting "Last Known Good Configuration". 90% of the time that fixes it.
