Well today i all that i really wanted to do was remove a credit card from being billed every month and just pay with another credit card or those pre-paid things so anyway, i get onto the xbox live website and find the right number and call it up after the usual press 1 to do this rah rah rah and so on i get to the service representative he tells me his name i tell him mine i say i want to cancel it and hes just like

"thats really unfortunate, are you sure you just don't want to give it to a friend as a gift etc..."

i just tell him nah i'm right

he then replies "well its really sad, so how long you been playing"

and it goes on like this for a while, so anyway after i tell him some details he cant retrieve them because of some upgrade that was being implemented so he asks me to ring back later i'm ok with this and i hangup,

so....

i ring back do the same stuff introduced the same way and tell him ( a new person this time) the same stuff and you know what ?!!! i quote

"its sad to see you leaving xbox live"

haha i just thought it was funny the way that micro$oft have trained their staff to people wanting to leave xbox live...i mean don't they have enough money already? without trying to pass off accounts or trying hard to get me to stay?

That's kind of a silly question, they're a business. The reinvest their profit into the company to come up with bigger and better things, like an xBox. Any big company will do this if you try to cancel their services, just try it with Comcast. It's smart business. They ARE sad you're leaving, how else do you think they're making money, certainly not off of xBox sales.

I think you'll find any call centre will try anything to get more £ off you, especially when you say you want to quit.

Just last week I was sorting out my bank account to get my account switched over, first they offered me a free trial of the account I wanted to change from which I rejected, then they tried to sign me up to an ISA which I also rejected but the guy on the phone must have asked me at least 2 or 3 times.

Everywhere does it, at the end of the day its just their job and they're only doing what they've been trained to do, its just up to you to learn to say "No". :p

Hate capitalism?

Sure and hate the US developed Green Revolution thas has
eliminated natural famines and crop blight so much to the point
that the only food shortages around now are artificial ones
being used by SOCIALIST nations to oppress their people.
Capitalist agribusiness has eradicated natural hunger.

Thanks to capitalism the companies that have anything worth
offering to normal people are almost all in free-market societies.
Why no soviet/chinese/cuban/noko version of MS, Ebay, Intel,
or any one of hundreds of western free market inspired companies?

Because socialism does not work; if it did, the soviet toy industry
would have parlayed the Rubiks cube into a foundation stone
for global dominance of soviet toy design.
This is no joke. Hasbro, Fisher Price, Mattel: all these companies
have virtual darpa/skunkworks facilities currently working with
mag lev, nano scale engineering, even 'anti' gravity electromagnetics.

In the old USSR; if you didn't like the cheesy state produced apple clone
too fuggin bad that is all the system offered.
At the same time here in the US you could choose
IBM, General Computing, Altair, DEC, Rockwell Int, Hughes,
Apple, Radioshack, Atari, heck I go go on for pages.

Point is in a capitalist system you have choices.
In a socialist system your only choice is take it* or leave it.
(*-if the 'it' in question is even available)

As for the response by MS to subscribers wishing to cancel:
it's the industry standard for businesses who focus on customer support.

Waddya want the rep to say?
"Sure we'll close your account.....later loser."
Just a mum recital of the number to be deleted isn't much better
from a businessman's standpoint. Every customer counts to a business
that wants to remain in business.
XBXLV is an award winning service program that is the de facto standard
from which both Nintendo and Sony are modeling their online offerings after.

One can only hope that the day will come wherein the SCE service rep
is even 1/2 the bu++kisser that the XBXLV support crew is.
Thus far, Sony put the CUSs in CUSsTOMER SERVICE.
I get better response times from my exgirlfriends than SCE.

Hah hah. There is no good government system period. There will always be a darkness in the human heart that makes effective government impossible. Capitalism is fine, it's greed that's the problem. Communism is fine, it's the power hungry that are a problem, etc.

It's the same with all IPS i have left behind. They try to convince asking you have some relative that could want their service and trying to change your actual service for another more lesser and cheap to have you captive and you continue paying for something you no longer want

You have to stay firm in your decison and don't let this bad ass representatives wash you brain and you will be out from there

The train has jumped the tracks.

Communism is fine?
Why do people flee Cuba in anything that can float and ride a current?
Why does NoKo execute people who try to flee?
If it's fine, why did East Germany have to build a wall to keep people in?
All things being equal, the Berlin Wall should have kept out as many people
trying to enter as were trying to leave. But that clearly wasn't the case.
Moreover, I doubt anyone would try to posit it was.
That's a checkmate I believe.

Communism is fine?
Tell that to the Tibetans.
Or better, tell it to the relatives of the martyrs at Tianamen Square.
Better still, tell that to the 100,000,000 people murdered
by self described communists; oh I forget you can't because they are DEAD.

Greed has nothing to do with capitalism and exists regardless of
the govt system being employed. Greed is a human character flaw.
Govts are inanimate entities and are incapable of exhibiting any character
other than that of it's human components: it's a mirror of it's society.

When it comes to pure despotism the socialists have that market cornered.
There is nothing capitalistic about socialism; if you think so,
then you have no actual understanding about govts and their functions.

Theft, rape, murder, and greed existed for countless millenia before
free-market capitalism was even conceived.
So your grasp of history is lacking as well.
The irrefutable truths:
capitalist agribusiness wiped out natural famines as well as clothed the naked
capitalist medicine spearheaded the effort to eradicate scores of
pathogens and other slayers of men: our medical science has saved
almost as much people as the socialists have killed in the past 100 years.

I could fill entire threads with the news links from EU nations
bemoaning the hundreds of people who die each year just waiting
to recieve their 'free' medical treatment: not exactly free with a price like that.
Thousands of people come to the US every year to get life saving
medical treatment that is simply unavailable in their countries.
Backward nations like Canada, the UK, France, Spain, Netherlands:
their people come here for a chance to continue living...those who can
afford the airplane ticket anyway.

Why are the majority of medical specialists here in the US?
FREE MARKET CAPITALISM that's why.
Here in the US an A+ med student with superior surgery skills and technique
will be richly rewarded for their efforts and has subsequent motivation
to continue to improve their abilities.
Not so elsewhere on this planet.
In the UK, an A+ med student won't make much more than the C- ne-er do well
if at all; nor are they motivated to improve their skills--they can't charge more.
The only thing their health system motivates them to do is to
immigrate here to the US where they will be paid what they are worth.

The bright side:
We are getting some of the UK's best doctors and surgeons.
The dark side:
The quality of the UK's health professionals drops every year.

Katrina is a non issue that has been used by people to try and find
fault with our govt who evidently have no idea how our govt is structured
nor how it is supposed to function.
The USA is not a centralized nation state.
Washington DC has almost no direct power over the civil affairs of the States.
We are a union of 50 quasi-independent States with varying degrees
of autonomy from the central govt. We are not one nation that was carved
into subnational states. We are sovereign states that have been
unified into a nation. There is an appreciable difference.

The US central govt is prohibited(read:illegal) from sending federal personel
into any state without first getting a request from that state.
In the Katrina case, Gov Blanco did nothing and in fact refused to submit
a formal request to the President until it was too late.
Yes, there are provisions for the cent gov to assume authority
in worse case events, but it's politically very tricky.
Given that the states of Missouri, Mississippi, and Alabama submitted
federal requests and Louisiana didn't , it legally implied that Louisiana
had everything under control or was on top of things.

As I said before,
in decades past had the Louisiana Governor did this in the 1950's he
(and it would have been a he) would have been taken into custody
by US Marshals and a significant majority of the state legislature indicted
for dereliction of duty and failure to execute their responsibilities
in a timely manner. Heck in the 1850's, Texas could have rightly annexxed
southern Louisiana as reparation for having to provide aid and support
to citizens that weren't Texans.

Our govt is meant for a selfmotivated, responsible, and moral people
i.e. real adults in other words.
The rest of the world's govt's aren't much more than daycares with armies.
You're too ignorant to be trusted with your own safety, money, and destiny.
It's easier to let Big Brother take care of your dictated needs.

Hence you are not actual sovereign citizens.
Wards of your individual nations is a more accurate term.
